When a magazine reporter assigned a "where are they now?" piece on a 50-year old photospread of three british society beauties, one of them, Lady Alice Munroe, now the widowed Countess von Holzendorf, agrees to be interviewed. But when a few questions set the Countess' daughter Connie thinking about her past, she returns to the von holzendorf's ancestral homeland, now that the cold war between the Germanys was over after post German reunification, to find out where she comes from. What she finds might well destroy her relationship with her mother. A fictionalized account based on a number of such cases of East German gentry reclaiming their holdings in the former East Germany and the often disturbing revelations that would result.
